Yemen: The Houthis

The Houthis charts the story of how a rebel Shi’a group originating in the tribal territories of the mountainous north of the country, exploited deep-rooted political, cultural and religious fault lines in Yemen to seize control of the country. Born out of an Islamic revivalist movement in the 1980s the film tracks how the Houthis’ extreme ideology has led them to become a key member of Iran’s Shia Crescent and ultimately, a threat not just to stability in the Middle East but to the global economy.
