Seventy-five years ago, during the Great Depression, thousands of Americans ventured to the Soviet Union to help build the world’s first workers’ paradise. At first they were treated as heroes, but after a few years they started to disappear. Many were executed; others died of cold or starvation in labour camps. All were innocent. And the US government did nothing to help. Their families in the United States never knew what happened to them. Until now. Using KGB files, declassified US documents, and interviews with the survivors of the purges, this film tells what happened to the lost victims of Stalin.
