Dead in the Water

During the 1967 Six Day War, Israel attacked the USS Liberty, an American spy ship, killing 34 servicemen. Israel says the affair was a tragic accident, while for 35 years the Liberty survivors claimed that it was intentional. This film reveals the truth, and for the first time shows how the attack led to a US nuclear strike on Egypt that was called off only at the last minute. It tells a gripping and chilling story, with revelations from senior American figures including former US Defense Secretary Robert McNamara and CIA chief Richard Helms, as well as officers in the US and Israeli intelligence services speaking here for the first time.
